Time for a clean energy & low-carbon economy
Over the last several years, consumption of energy with high carbon content has prompted worldwide economic and environmental concerns. Joining us to address these issues is Dr. Daniel Kammen, a respected voice on energy, who will discuss the science and policy of new, clean, renewable energy systems.
Dr. Kammen holds several appointments at the University of California Berkeley where he is director of the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory. Kammen's work focuses on the science and policy of clean, renewable energy systems, energy efficiency, energy's role in national policies, and the use and impacts of energy on development. He has published five books and over 200 journal articles. Dr. Kammen is also a coordinating lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
Kammen was also elected a permanent fellow of the African Academy of Sciences in 1998 and, in 2007, received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Commonwealth Club of California.
