The Sky Is Not The Limit: Lessons From A Year In Space

September 27, 2017 | 7:30pm | William Saroyan Theatre

Astronaut, Ret. U.S. Navy Captain Scott Kelly, holds the American record for the longest number of consecutive days in space, 382. An indomitable explorer, he has flown four space missions, paving the way for the future of space travel. His year in space provided NASA an unprecedented opportunity to study the reactions and adaptations of the human body to the harsh environment in space. His memoir Endurance: My Year In Space and Our Journey to Mars chronicles his experience and has been optioned by Sony Pictures.

Kelly holds a B.S. degree in marine engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and an M.S. degree in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Naval Post-Graduate School. In 29 years serving the United States Navy, Kelly has been awarded 14 medals for distinguished service.

With his awe-inspiring stories of space, Captain Kelly speaks of striving to reach audacious, ambitious goals, and describes the qualities of leadership and teamwork needed to achieve great accomplishments.
