Author Denise Kiernan’s work has been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Village Voice, Ms. Magazine, Reader’s Digest, and Discover. She has also worked in television, serving as head writer for ABC’s ”Who Wants to Be a Millionaire“ during its Emmy award-winning first season and as a producer for media outlets such as ESPN. She has authored several popular history titles including The Girls of Atomic City which became a New York Times best seller in its first week of publication. In her lecture, Kiernan will take us into a topsecret world where young women and men lived and worked surrounded by spies and secrecy, forbidden to speak of their work to anyone as the United States struggled to face the challenges of World War II and the Manhattan Project raced to make the world’s first nuclear weapon.
