All Kinds of Minds Working Together

February 21, 2018 | 10:30am | William Saroyan Theatre

Temple Grandin is Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University. Well-known for developing humane handling techniques and innovative equipment for livestock, she is also renowned as a spokesperson for autism. She credits her own unique thinking processes for her insights into animal psychology. Her commitment to developing an understanding of human thinking led to her books, Thinking in Pictures and The Autistic Brain: Thinking Across the Spectrum.

Grandin’s experience growing up as an autistic person forms her perspective that all humans exhibit a natural variation of thinking processes. Throughout her early education, her own behavior and learning processes were not understood by her peers or teachers. Her work offers insight into these behaviors and thinking processes to develop greater understanding and more compassionate interactions among all people.

* Tickets for the Temple Grandin event are no longer available online. A limited number of tickets will be available at the box office on the morning of the lecture.
